During the Nassau County Legislature’s February 28 meeting, newly appointed Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison was honored with a citation. His appointment marks the first African-American to hold a Police Commissioner position in Suffolk County. It was especially fitting that the honor took place at the Nassau County Legislature during Black History Month.

“Commissioner Harrison was an outstanding public servant over his decades-long career with the New York City Police Department,” Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) said. “I am certain that he will serve the residents and businesses of Suffolk County remarkably as their Police Commissioner.”
