An enthusiastic audience gave an exuberant reception to a group of very talented performers at the “Soul to Soul” Concert at Temple Beth Sholom in Roslyn Heights on June 3 in celebration of both our country’s Jewish and African American histories while raising funds for the temple’s inclusion program.
The evening kicked off with a video by Temple Inclusion Committee member Isaac Zivari describing the emphasis at TBS on providing a religious school education for all children, including those with special needs.
Then, performers from the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene sang selections highlighting Jewish support during the Civil Rights Movement and songs in Yiddish, the language many Eastern European Jews brought with them to America when escaping persecution.
The spellbinding show captivated the audience and impressed them with the importance of standing up for equity and opportunity for all.
