Come join the annual Community Chest Charity Golf Outing on May 22 at The Village Club of Sands Point.
The Community Chest of Port Washington is a nonprofit organization that raises money to help local charities improve the lives of its residents.
The golf outing held on May 22 includes a day of golf with a shotgun start, along with breakfast and lunch on the course with beer, wine and soft drinks included. Following the tournament, a special dessert reception with awards, raffle prizes and auctions will be held in the grille room.
For those non-golfers, another way of supporting the Community Chest and event is to attend the 19th-hole dessert reception.
The Chest‘s golf outing helps raise money which is used to provide grant funding to more than 25 highly-screened nonprofits that are dedicated to improving the lives of Port Washington residents.
“the Chest has distributed millions of dollars since its inception in 1949 and by participating in this year’s outing, you are helping to support many organizations and people in Port Washington,” Jeff Holtzman, chairman of last year’s golf outing event and back for a third season, said.
When asked why donate to the Community Chest, President Drew Herskowitz reminds us that The Chest distributes funds to smaller 501 (c) (3)s that do not have the fund-raising capabilities that we have, and by donating to the Community Chest of Port Washington these smaller organizations, that do exceptional work for the community, can complete their mission.
Community Chest grantees include The Nicholas Center, The Parent Resource Center, The Safe Center of LI and The Children’s Center.
The Community Chest of Port Washington also provides affordable office space to non-profits, helping many small organizations that cannot afford market rent rates to have a place to do great work for the community.
“We are hoping that the Port community will again step up to support this wonderful event,” Paul Oliveri, co-chairmen of this year’s golf outing, said. “Last year we raised almost $70,000. Supporters like the Dejana Foundation and many generous individuals helped us achieve those numbers.”
