Approximately 200 Manhasset School District students in grades K-6 are enjoying various enriching experiences through the District’s annual SCOPE Center summer program, this year hosted by Munsey Park Elementary School and sponsored by SCOPE.
Young students are cultivating their creative abilities through arts and crafts, such as faux stained-glass projects, jewelry making, sculpting, watercolor painting and the “Yay Clay” class. Young builders are enjoying the “Looney for Legos” class as well as model making and woodshop, while the young scientists/problem-solvers are engaged with “Extreme STEAM” and “Mad Scientists.”
There’s also culinary training through a chef’s class, and the program for incoming kindergartners is designed to acclimate the District’s newest students to their upcoming elementary school experience.
Special guest presenters also brought in live animals for lessons on how they live and their habitats.
Computers, theater and Italian culture are also among the diverse array of offerings that help keep young Manhasset students active and learning throughout the summer months.
