The Tribute and Honor Foundation, a Long Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to honoring and supporting veterans and their families, proudly announced its latest contribution to the community.

With the community’s support, the foundation has raised close to $50,000 to aid VFW Post 347 with improvements to the post and in support of the post’s rebuild following a devastating fire in 2021.

However, this past Tuesday’s donation was a general donation in appreciation for the invaluable service and dedication that the post has consistently provided to the community. Furthermore, the gift is intended as a symbol of celebration and support for the post’s upcoming grand reopening, scheduled for this summer.

Gaitley Stevenson-Mathews, president of the Tribute and Honor Foundation, expressed his deep appreciation for VFW Post 347: “We are immensely grateful for the unwavering commitment of VFW Post 347 to our community.

This donation is our way of saying thank you for all they do to support our veterans and their families, and to congratulate them on their forthcoming grand reopening.” While not all of the funds have been allocated at this time, a portion of the monies will be used to help fund the post’s scholarship fund established in the late 90s.

Commander Henryk Nowicki of VFW Post 347 conveyed his appreciation for the foundation’s generous gift: “On behalf of our post and its members, we extend our sincerest appreciation to the Tribute and Honor Foundation. This donation exemplifies the bond between our organizations and reinforces the importance of community support in our mission.”

Howard Stillwagon, Vice Commander of the post and Liaison to the Tribute and Honor Foundation board echoed Commander Nowicki’s sentiments: “The Tribute and Honor Foundation has been a steadfast partner in our efforts to serve the community. This donation, given in recognition of our post’s reopening, underscores the strong relationships that exist between the post and the community.

The Tribute and Honor Foundation remains dedicated to honoring and supporting veterans and their families. To learn more about the foundation and the foundation’s work in the community, please visit www.tributeandhonorfoundation.org
