The Town of North Hempstead will host a memorial service commemorating the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Manhasset Valley Park, located on East Shore Road and Northern Blvd. All are welcome to the ceremony.

“It is hard to imagine that it has been 23 years since the 9/11 attacks. But despite the many years, the day is as heartbreaking as ever for our North Hempstead family,” Supervisor Jennifer DeSena said. “We lost 56 residents that day, so it is especially significant that we come together as a community each year to honor their memory. I invite neighbors to please join us as we remember these loved ones and the brave heroism of our first responders with a special ceremony at the Town’s 9/11 Memorial at Manhasset Valley Park.”

“The annual remembrance of September 11th is a solemn occasion for reflection and remembrance and of one of the darkest days in American history. It is a day marked by somber tributes and personal reflections, honoring the lives lost and the heroes who emerged. As we in our Town of North Hempstead continue to heal from losing our residents, this day reinforces our collective commitment to building a peaceful and just world, upholding the vow to “Never Forget,” Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava said.
