From the Desk of Bruce Blakeman: Celebrating a new era in Nassau County
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman

Nassau County, with its almost 1.5 million residents, would be larger than 10 states by population.

This number includes people from every religion, ethnic group, abilities and lifestyles, contributing to a vibrant and diverse community. We have the 12th largest police department in the nation, and our GDP surpasses that of 145 nations in the United Nations.

In a county this large, diverse, and prosperous, there is always something happening: sporting events, breaking news, concerts, ceremonies, and more.

The media that cover these have an obligation and duty to keep our residents informed about public issues in the county.

Today, I am proud to welcome Schneps Media Long Island’s new venture to Nassau County and invite our residents to read about the great things going on in their communities and keep them abreast on issues important to our county.

Schneps Media Long Island is led by Victoria Schneps-Yunis and her son, Josh Schneps.

Vickie is a trailblazing leader who made national news when she helped shed light on the Willowbrook State School, bringing attention to the plight of its residents and advocating for their rights. Her commitment to journalism and community service has made her a respected figure in the media industry.

Recently, Schneps Media acquired two of our local papers that have served our county for years: Blank Slate Media and the Anton Media Group.

As we celebrate the 125th anniversary of Nassau County, we reflect on our rich history and look towards a bright future. Nassau County has been a beacon of innovation and excellence.

Our schools consistently rank among the best in the state, with a commitment to providing top-notch education to our children. Our parks and recreational facilities are second to none, offering a variety of activities for families and individuals to enjoy year-round.

Nassau County’s economic landscape is thriving, with a robust business community that includes a mix of small businesses, startups, and established corporations.

Our strategic location and excellent infrastructure have attracted businesses from various sectors, contributing to job creation and economic growth.

We are home to some of the most innovative companies in the country, driving advancements in technology, healthcare, and finance.

Our healthcare system is another point of pride. Nassau County is home to some of the best hospitals and medical research facilities in the nation.

Our healthcare professionals are dedicated to providing exceptional care and advancing medical research, ensuring that our residents have access to the best healthcare services available.

Schneps Media Long Island’s commitment to quality journalism and community engagement aligns perfectly with our vision for the future. Their presence will undoubtedly enhance our ability to stay informed and connected.

This new era for Nassau County is marked by growth, diversity and a strong sense of community.

With Schneps Media Long Island at the helm of our local journalism, we can look forward to stories that inspire, inform and celebrate the unique spirit of our county. We encourage all residents to engage with this new media outlet and participate in the ongoing narrative of Nassau County.

Let us embrace this moment of change and opportunity, knowing that our community’s story is in good hands with Schneps Media Long Island. Welcome, and here’s to a future filled with more milestones, achievements, and shared experiences.

  1. Mr. Blakeman, you celebrate a “vibrant and diverse community” and continue with “In a county this large, diverse, and prosperous, there is always something happening: sporting events, breaking news, concerts, ceremonies, and more.”
You know what is NOT going to be happening; transgender people being able to participate in sports in our parks and facilities! You can’t have it both ways, Mr. Blakeman. You can’t tout how wonderfully diverse we are while passing transphobic and hateful legislation!
