The Manhasset Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Halloween on Plandome event, touted as the “biggest children’s event of the year.” The spooky celebration is scheduled for Oct. 21, running from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The festivities will kick off with a costume contest and party at 1 p.m. on Mary Jane Davies Green. The event promises plenty of treats, including a professional photographer capturing the memorable moments, exciting giveaways and a magician.
Trick-or-treating will be the highlight of the day, with participating merchants throughout the town welcoming little ghouls and goblins. Last year’s event drew a large turnout, with the chamber saying it counted over 500 children strolling the streets in search of goodies. This year the first 250 kids to arrive will be treated to pre-filled treat bags.
For local businesses eager to join in the fun, there’s still an opportunity to get involved. They can drop off promotional materials such as coupons, fliers, or treat bags featuring their logos to Chamber Co-President Antonietta Manzi by Oct. 12. Those looking to coordinate drop-off or pick-up arrangements for these materials can reach out via email to shopmanhasset@gmail.com.
Participating businesses will receive a spot on the trick-or-treat map given out to kids, making it easy for the candy collectors to navigate their way through the Halloween on Plandome extravaganza.
