Sixth-grade English teachers, in partnership with Roslyn Middle School library media specialist Phyllis Squicciarini, planned and hosted a multi-genre book tasting for the sixth-grade class.
Students were given the opportunity to visit the library, examine a selection of potential choice books and receive guidance from their teachers and the library media specialist regarding recommendations.
“It was exciting to see students with physical books in their hands, thoughtfully reflecting on what they would choose to read for pleasure,” English Chair Jennifer Sapir said. “The sixth-grade teachers organized a fun and rewarding event that demonstrates learning in action and contributes to the culture of reading and literacy that we are looking to build for our middle school students.”
