To better meet the needs of its recipients who have work responsibilities on weekdays, NOSH Delivers!has added Saturday hours for six dates this summer: June 24, July 8 & 22, August 5 & 19 and September 9. Those requiring supplemental food assistance may visit

NOSH Delivers! at 32 School St. (back door), Glen Cove on any of these dates, from 11 am to 3 pm to select groceries sufficient for two meals per week for a family of four (additional provided according to family size). It is requested that recipients bring a shopping bag or cart. NOSH is extremely grateful to the Glen Cove Neighborhood Association and St. John’s of Lattingtown for their generous support that has made this additional day of service on Saturdays possible.

Food donations requested

The groceries distributed by NOSH are received from large food banks such as Island Harvest and Long Island Cares and also from area businesses and individuals who supply donated food.

According to NOSH Delivers! organizers, food items that are particularly needed are pasta, rice, canned or dried beans, canned chicken or tuna, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, packaged sliced bread and store-bought or garden produce. Donations of food may be dropped off at 32 School Street (back door) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Opportunities for Saturday volunteers

An all-volunteer organization, NOSH Delivers! is dependent on hundreds of local residents who fill every function involved in getting food to those who need it—Preparing NOSHBags of groceries, delivering NOSHBags to recipients across the North Shore, slicing bread for packaging, preparing NOSHBags of produce, keeping pantry shelves freshly stocked, accepting and storing items donated by food banks and individuals, assisting with the check in of recipients and assisting them in selecting items from the NOSH pantry, plus much more.

Until now, the ability to volunteer for NOSH has been limited to those who have weekdays available. But this summer offers opportunities for people who can work on Saturdays.
