A Brooklyn man was charged with endangering a bunny rabbit while panhandling in Mineola, police said.
On Wednesday, June 28, at 12:00 p.m. officers detained Marian Honciu, 29, for panhandling in the vicinity of Roslyn Road and East Jericho Turnpike.
After locating Honciu’s vehicle, police said they found a bunny rabbit inside while internal temperatures were over 120°F.
The vehicle also had a fraudulent license plate on its rear, police said. The bunny rabbit was handed over to the ASPCA.
Honciu is charged with the confinement of a companion animal in a vehicle: extreme temperatures, peddlers and solicitors violation, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was issued an appearance ticket in court for Tuesday, July 11, police said.
how dare you do these abuses you are just amateurs and you will never know the truth I actually think that you are just hypocrites and you immediately judge by appearances the bunny was a gift for my son and he was in the car with all the windows open to see that the car was parked in the shade. you have no reason to comment from the bench also because you haven’t seen anything concrete or even proof
