Floral Park-Bellerose School District celebrated the careers and retirement of two staff members at the board of education meeting on June 5.

The meeting began with three Floral Park-Bellerose School fourth graders – Hervin Crisostomo, Taylor Maidhof and Charlotte Vota – who assisted in leading the Pledge of Allegiance and each shared a fond memory from their time in fourth grade.

Director of Special Education Sharon Meyer then took to the podium to speak about district social worker Jane Helfman and her career in the district, which spans over 25 years. John Lewis Childs School Principal Susan Fazio spoke on behalf of teacher aide and teaching assistant Karen Bonura, who has worked in the school for more than 25 years.

The board thanked both Helfman and Bonura for their time and dedication to the district and wished them well in their retirement.
