Wantage – Patricia R. Hefferan, age 79, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 at her residence.
Born in Queens, New York to the late Charles and Constance, Mrs. Hefferan grew up in New York before moving to Wayne, N.J. where she was a passionate, dedicated, hard-working and loving mother to her four children.
She has lived in Sussex County for the past 25 years. Mrs. Hefferan was a registered nurse and was employed by Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital in Trenton before her retirement.
She was a former member of St. Monica R.C. Church in Sussex and also Our Lady Queen of Peace in Branchville.
Mrs. Hefferan was currently an active member at St. Joseph’s R..C. Church in Newton. She was also a member of the Sussex County Bird Club and the Don Bosco Columbiettes #7784.
She was a very empathetic person and was known for her letters to the editor in various newspapers. Mrs. Hefferan was also very politically active in Sussex County.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert; her sister, Nancy; her children, Julie Schult and Diana Kerby. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Peter J. Hefferan; her son, William Schult and his wife Stephanie Mace of Oregon City, Oregon; her daughter, Krista Schult of Bloomfield; and her grandchildren, Everett, Charles, Vivian, Aylie, Erin, Katie, and Genevieve.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 24 Halstead Street, Newton. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex, N.J..
