New Hyde Park Road School kindergarteners in Kathy Maricevic’s class were visited by the district’s Technology Integration Specialist Jeanine Laurino for a technology demonstration on Oct. 18.
Laurino provides push-in lessons on the district’s tech to any teacher who is interested. She also runs professional development on technology for the teaching staff. This school year, the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Union Free School District introduced ClassLink, a new single sign-on for students and staff to access digital curriculum and applications. NHP-GCP has a 1:1 Chromebook program.
During her push-in lesson to the kindergarteners at Road School, Laurino taught them how to sign-on to ClassLink to access Seesaw. Through the online platform, the students created digital pumpkin art. Laurino demonstrated how to use the various design tools, such as the eraser and marker.
Laurino will be meeting with the kindergarten classes at Road School weekly to continue to teach them ClassLink and using Star Fall and other apps within that platform.
