
One person died in an early morning crash Friday on the Long Island Expressway in North Hills that resulted in the closing of all westbound lanes between three exits, according to police.
Authorities said the incident took place close to exit 36 at about 2 a.m. The accident involved two vehicles traveling westbound.
Officials pronounced a 39-year-old male driver dead at the scene. The driver of the second car was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
From exits 34 to 36, all westbound lanes were closed. They have since reopened.
