Schools out for Summer so Teen activities at the Floral Park Library abound: 2-session Ukulele Crash Course; Teen Cuisine with Chefs of d’Future; Beach Blanket Bingo; Teen/Tween P[art]y Art; Beach Towel to Tie-Dye For; Retro Gaming; Jumbo Speed Stacking Competition; and a Nintendo Switch tournament. Teens can earn Community Service with Teens Making Zines and a Buddy craft partnership with kids ages 4 through entering 5th grade.
For Children, July features Harry Potter’s Birthday Bash, a Visit from Madrigal Miracle (ages 3 – 7), The Buzz of the Beekeeper with Gerald Raffa (ages 5+), and a Library Scavenger Hunt with author Jason Edwards. Perennial favorites Baby Start’s A Time for Kids and Family Pre-School Hour, Funkytown Playground, Play Hooray, P[art]y Art, and Chefs of d’Future are on the July calendar, too.
Once again, Chefs of d’Future is cooking up something special for families with children up to grade 5.
The Library Lawn hosts two concerts in July: The Nina Gordon Band and 4 Ways from Sunday Band. Bring your own chair! In addition, the Thunderbird Native American Dance Company performs social Native American dances on the lawn.
The Monday Movie Matinee features “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” The Evening Edition Book Club meets at 7:00 pm on July 7th to discuss “The House on Fripp Island” by Rebecca Kauffman. The Library Board meets in person on Wednesday, July 13th at 7:30pm. The public is welcome.
The “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading program is going swimmingly!
The weekly Chair Yoga program continues in July. All sessions this month are via ZOOM – all the way from our instructor’s birthplace in Malta!
Made with Love Knitting and Crocheting volunteer group meetings are weekly Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesdays at 11:30 am. You can find them on the Library lawn if the weather is nice!
