The leaked memo about the Supreme Court possibly planning to overturn Roe v. Wade will have repercussions that were not considered and could affect not only the justices who voted for the first draft but also the senators, congressmen and local officials who will support it. This ruling will not only affect poor people but many of the middle class who are currently surviving just to make ends meet.

I can see one situation where a loving couple with two children discover that the wife is pregnant, but maintaining the household and caring for two kids are about all she can handle. Initially, this unwanted pregnancy will cause her depression followed by suicide. Who will the husband blame for the death of his wife and what will the husband do?

Former President Trump encouraged his supporters not to let one’s anger fester and thus do whatever is necessary to release such frustration. Anger management was a thing of the past. The insurrection of Jan. 6 resulted in140 police officers being injured and at least three dying. In the above situation, will the husband go after the people who he believed were responsible for the suicide of his wife? Taking it even further, what if the wife had been raped and the law prevented her from having an abortion? That would cause the husband even greater anger and who could blame him for his subsequent actions.

Any lawyer could invoke an insanity defense based upon the fact that the defendant must have been suffering from a mental defect at the time of the crime due to the anguish caused by the suicide of his wife.

As an alternative to revenge, there might be a way to handle unwanted pregnancies without anyone getting hurt except for possibly the children of these unwanted pregnancies. Anti-abortion supporters should set up baskets outside the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C., or outside court buildings throughout the United States, where newborn babies could be dropped off. Of course, during winter months, such baskets must be heated, and such babies should be delivered to local churches where they can be utilized for fund-raising purposes by having them auctioned off. Such babies should be represented by law firms for purposes of confidentiality.

With our country heading in the direction to expand the meaning of free speech and based upon the success of the January 6th insurrection, pro-choice protestors should be allowed to protest inside the Supreme Court building or in the halls of Congress, thus ensuring that they will be able to voice their opinions without causing physical harm to others. As Donald Trump would say, it’s best not to hold in your feelings and be allowed to express yourself, especially when you’re telling the truth. Nevertheless, if violence does occur, so be it. It supports the theory of cause and effect.

A more realistic solution might be for the president to utilize his power by issuing a Presidential Executive Order to immediately pardon every person who is convicted of charges applicable to participating in abortions.
