Roslyn Board of Education Vice President Clifford Saffron and Trustee Steven Litvack, two longtime members, are not seeking re-election this year, according to the district clerk.

Running uncontested for their seats are Alison Gilbert and Robert Koonin. Bruce Valauri, an incumbent on the board, is running unopposed for his seat.

Saffron initially sought his seat after a multimillion-dollar financial scandal rocked the Roslyn School district in 2004 involving an embezzlement scheme by then-Roslyn Superintendent Frank Tassone, who headed the school district at a time when approximately $11.7 million was embezzled. Tassone and Assistant Superintendent Pamela Gluckin embezzled $7 million of the total amount.

Litvack originally ran for trustee in 2009 when he was approached by community members and friends, he previously said. He is the president of Jersey College, which specializes in nursing education and has ten campuses across New Jersey, Florida and Indiana.

Litvack graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in finance and entrepreneurial management in 1989 and then received a law degree from Harvard University in 1993. He resides in Roslyn with his wife and three children.

Gilbert, a psychologist, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and has been practicing for 14 years. She received a Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from the University of California, Davis in 2016. The clinical assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell has two students in the district.

Koonin is a partner at ArentFox Schiff’s Real Estate Practice and has also founded FifthStreet Advisors. He graduated from Union College and Brooklyn Law School
