North Hempstead Council Member Mariann Dalimonte, in partnership with the Nassau University Medical Center and the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety, has organized a Bike Rodeo & Helmet Safety event, which will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at Manorhaven Beach Park’s skating rink.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will provide children with the opportunity to participate in a series of courses that will allow them to practice bicycle safety and agility skills.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn the importance of wearing a bike helmet and obeying traffic rules,” said Dalimonte. “As the weather warms up, we want to make sure that everyone is able to get outside, have fun, and stay safe.”
The event is free and all participants must bring their own bicycles and helmets. Attendees must register by April 24 by calling 311 to RSVP.
The rain date for the event is Tuesday, May 3.
