On Feb. 15, Herricks Board of Education President Henry Zanetti, along with members of the board and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fino Celano, officially welcomed friends and members of the Herricks school community to the unveiling of the new fitness center at Herricks High School.
The spacious addition to the school was planned and designed to meet the needs of current and future athletes to train, as well as to encourage all students to make use of the newly designed and upgraded fitness facility. The fitness center includes multiple state-of-the-art treadmills and stationary bikes, as well as weightlifting stations comparable to those used by health clubs.
“This facility is really a dream come true for our student-athletes and will give them the opportunity to train and stay competitive with the best of the best,” said Herricks High School Principal Joan Keegan.
“The completion of this project is part of the bond referendum approved by voters in December 2016,” said Zanetti. Zanetti praised Herricks staff, administrators, architects and engineers for their hard work on this project. He also extended his sincere appreciation to the community residents who approved the bond referendum. Through their support, they made this project, as well as numerous other facility improvements throughout the district, a reality for Herricks students.
