It is now 19 years since the attack on the World Trade Center. Each year we have shared moments of grief, comfort and hope, as we hear the names of the loved ones who lost their lives on that day, and we remember.

As the bells ring during the ceremony to recall the time that each of the buildings fell I am reminded of this portion of John Donne’s poem:

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.

Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved with mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”
