The 2019 New Hyde Park Memorial High School yearbook publication, Lance, was awarded its fifth consecutive gold medalist critique from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, which is owned and operated by Columbia University.
This marks the first time the publication has won gold while receiving the All-Columbian Honors. The publication received its highest score in school history, earning 960 out of a total 1,000 points.
Former Editor-in-Chief Amanda Saji said, “Lance has a history of winning, and every single person on staff put so much time and effort into the book; so we wanted to continue the legacy. I’m thrilled about the ranking, but even more thankful for the invaluable skills we learned.”
This year’s Editor-in-Chief Victoria McGuigan said, “I want to use the CSPA critique as a guide for this year. In yearbook, we try to tell the story of the graduating class, and I hope that the critique only serves to emphasize this message.”
