North Hempstead Town officials honored the newest Eagle Scouts from Troop 201 of Albertson during a ceremony at American Legion Post 144 on May 19. Town Clerk Wayne Wink and Council Member Peter Zuckerman presented proclamations to Ryan Slattery and Peter Cuomo in recognition of this special occasion.
Slattery’s Eagle Scout project focused on improving the facilities in which the Herricks wrestling team practices and competes. He built three scoring tables used during tournaments and matches, replaced an old bulletin board used for posting tournament brackets, and built a “Herricks Wrestling” sign.
Cuomo’s Eagle Scout Project consisted of the construction and refurbishment of the Fern Garden at Clark Botanic Garden. A new 170-foot gravel pathway and border were constructed, 34 new plants were planted, and the surrounding garden area was revitalized.
