Savitree Pestano is a dedicated professional with more than two decades of experience in nonprofit healthcare. Savi was born in a small country call Guyana, approximately 83,000 square miles located in South America.
Savi migrated to the US at the age of 19. Once arriving in the U.S. Savi continued her studies and started off her career in not-for-profit healthcare where she quickly found her passion and purpose. She developed a passion for serving the communities.
Savi is currently the chief financial officer at Harmony Healthcare Long Island. Harmony Healthcare Long Island is a Federally Qualified Health Center that provides affordable, quality health services to everyone regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Savi joined Harmony Healthcare LI as their chief financial officer in March 2021; she has been instrumental in steering the financial strategy of the organization. Savi feels Harmony Healthcare’s mission “to provide access to equitable, optimal healthcare by improving the overall wellness of all individuals in our communities and delivering high-quality comprehensive patient-centered care” aligns with her purpose and goal.
Savi is extremely proud to be part of this outstanding organization.
Before joining Harmony Healthcare, Savi held the position of associate chief financial officer at the Institute for Community Living and worked extensively at the Jewish Board of Family and Children Services for five years, followed by a decade at Ryan Health Center.
Her impressive 22-year journey in the nonprofit sector reflects her unwavering dedication to supporting the most vulnerable communities.
Savitree holds a B.S. in accounting from Lehman College and an M.S. in health care engineering from Binghamton University, combining financial expertise with a deep understanding of healthcare systems.
In 2022 Savi completed the executive program at the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Savi is passionate about contributing to society, she finds fulfillment in giving back to those in need, a value instilled by her late mother, who encouraged her to pursue her passions. Part of Savi’s success was driven by her parents.
Her late mother always encouraged her to do what she enjoys and taught her at an early age how to be kind and compassionate to others. She believes her upbringing has a lot to do with her success and for that she will forever be grateful to her parents.
Savi believes her empathy and compassion, inherited from her mother, continues to shape her approach to serving the community.
Savi draws inspiration from her son, who remains her primary motivation in all her endeavors, infusing purpose into her work and personal life. Savi has a clear goal and a growth mindset.
Savi believes her success was enabled by faith, commitment, believing in herself, support from her family and mentors, confidence, positive thinking, and open-mindedness.
Savi also believes when you achieve success you must remain kind, humble and respectful as this will lead to even greater success.
Beyond Savi’s professional commitments, she cherishes moments spent traveling and with her beloved family.
